Page numbers

Add page numbers, choosing position, font, size and which page to start from. Runs in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.

The Page numbers tool inserts pagination into a PDF with configurable position and starting number, all processed locally in your browser.

You set the number position (bottom left, center or right) and the first page number. The tool draws the number on each page using an embedded font.

Pagination is applied with pdf-lib, which inserts the numbers as a new layer over the PDF. The original content is not modified; it only receives numbering.

It is useful for organizing reports, manuals, contracts and handouts, making it easier to reference specific pages while reading or reviewing.

When to use it

  • Numbering report pages before sending them for review.
  • Adding pagination to a handout for easier reference in class.

Limitations

  • Numbering is drawn over the content; if the area already has elements, they may overlap.
  • The font used is standard Helvetica; custom font styles are not supported.

Step by step

  1. Select the PDF.
  2. Choose the position and starting number.
  3. Click Add page numbers and download the file.
