About

Calculates simple interest with the classic formula, ideal for short-term loans and investments.

How to calculate simple interest

UtilNexo's simple interest calculator shows the final amount (total) of a capital when interest applies only to the initial capital.

The total amount formula is M = C × (1 + i × t), where C is capital, i is the rate, and t is time. If you invest $1,000 at 1% per month for 3 months, the final amount is 1,000 × (1 + 0.01 × 3) = $1,030 — the value the tool displays.

Unlike compound interest, here interest does not accumulate on interest. It is common in short-term operations and some types of loans and financing.

Examples

  • 1000; 1; 3 → 1030.00.
  • 500; 2; 5 → 550.00.

Limitations

  • The rate and time must be in the same unit (for example, % per month and months).
  • The result is a mathematical calculation; it does not include fees, taxes, or additional costs of the financial product.

How to use the simple interest calculator

  1. 1Enter the initial capital.
  2. 2Type the interest rate and the period.
  3. 3See the interest and the amount.
