About
Converts an array of JSON objects into CSV, ideal for opening data in spreadsheets and importing into other tools.
How to convert JSON to CSV
The converter turns a JSON array of objects into a CSV table, using the object keys as headers and the values as rows. It is the ideal bridge between API data and spreadsheets like Excel or Google Sheets.
JSON is great for applications, but spreadsheets and legacy databases often prefer CSV. The conversion takes the first set of keys to build the header and fills the following rows with the matching values.
The result is a comma-separated CSV, ready to open in Excel, import into BI systems, or load into databases. Nested objects are flattened or turned into text, depending on the implementation.
Before converting, make sure your JSON is an array of objects with a consistent structure. If objects have different keys, the converter will merge all keys into the header and fill missing fields with blanks.
Examples
- Input: [{"name":"Ana","age":30},{"name":"John","age":25}] → Output: "name, age" header with two data rows.
- Values with commas or quotes are correctly escaped so they do not break the CSV.
Limitations
- Deeply nested objects need to be flattened before conversion, since CSV is tabular.
- Complex types (arrays, objects) become quoted text and may lose their original structure.
How to use the JSON to CSV converter
- 1Paste the JSON array of objects into the main field.
- 2Click Process to generate the CSV.
- 3Copy or download the result as a CSV file.
Frequently asked questions
Does my JSON need to be an array?
Yes. The conversion expects an array of objects. A single object or an array of simple values may not produce a useful CSV.
What happens to nested objects?
They are converted to text (stringified JSON) or flattened. For complex cases, normalize the structure before converting.
Can I import the CSV directly into Excel?
Yes. The generated CSV uses comma separation and is compatible with Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice.
