About

Evaluates password strength by length, diversity and common patterns, helping you create safer passwords.

How to validate password strength

The password validator analyzes length and character variety to indicate whether a password is weak, reasonable, or strong. It is a quick way to gauge how well your password resists brute-force attacks.

A strong password combines length and variety: uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Most important, however, is length — a long phrase with simple characters is usually safer than a short password full of symbols.

The tool scores the password based on its length and the presence of different character types (uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols) and returns a rating: weak, reasonable, or strong.

Short passwords or those with little variety get a lower rating, indicating they should be strengthened before use.

Examples

  • W0rk#2026!Secure → strong (long, with case, number, and symbol).
  • 123456 or abcdef → weak (short and predictable).

Limitations

  • Validation estimates strength but does not check whether the password has leaked in a credential database.
  • Reusing the same password across sites remains a risk that individual strength does not eliminate.

How to use the password validator

  1. 1Type the password into the main field.
  2. 2Click Process to see the strength analysis.
  3. 3Adjust until it reaches the strong level.

Frequently asked questions

What is password entropy?

It is the measure of randomness, expressed in bits. Each extra bit doubles the number of possible combinations, making brute-force attacks harder.

Length or symbols: which matters more?

Length has more impact. A long password, even with simple characters, is usually stronger than a short one with many symbols.

Should I use a password manager?

Yes. A manager generates and stores unique, strong passwords for each site, solving the reuse problem.
