About

Sorts lines alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A), ideal for quickly organizing lists of names and data.

How to sort lines of text

Sorting lines organizes lists in alphabetical order. The UtilNexo tool processes each line as an item and returns the list ready, without messing up the rest of the text.

Each line of text is treated as an independent item. The tool compares the items alphabetically and reorders them, keeping each line intact.

The sorting is alphabetical and uses the Brazilian Portuguese locale, including accents and special letters.

This is useful for organizing name lists, shopping items, tags, code lines, and any content structured one item per line. Everything happens locally, with no text sent to any server.

Examples

  • List "banana / apple / cherry" → "apple / banana / cherry".
  • List "zebra / monkey / eagle" → "eagle / monkey / zebra".

Limitations

  • Alphabetical sorting treats numbers as text: "10" comes before "2".
  • Sorting depends on the locale; accents and special characters may be ordered differently in each language.

How to use the line sorter

  1. 1Paste or type the list, one item per line.
  2. 2The list is sorted automatically in alphabetical order.
  3. 3Copy the sorted list.

Frequently asked questions

Does sorting distinguish uppercase from lowercase?

Yes. The comparison follows the standard alphabetical order, considering uppercase and lowercase.

Are numbers sorted correctly?

Sorting is alphabetical, so numbers are treated as text (for example, "10" comes before "2").

Are duplicate lines kept?

Yes, by default duplicates are preserved. If you want to remove them, use the duplicate-line removal tool.
